Is SDSentry right for my business?
Is SDSentry a good fit for a small business?
Yes, if you are roughly one to a few locations, manage up to a few hundred safety data sheets, and your main goal is OSHA HazCom compliance rather than a full enterprise EHS platform. SDSentry covers SDS management, chemical inventory, secondary-container labels, training records, and an audit log in one subscription at $24.99 per location per month.
Is SDSentry an EHS platform?
No, and that is deliberate. It is a focused SDS and HazCom tool for small employers, without the cost and complexity of a full EHS suite — incident analytics, process safety, and the like — that small facilities rarely need.
Does SDSentry do industrial-hygiene exposure monitoring or international (REACH / TSCA) compliance?
No, and that is by design. SDSentry focuses on US OSHA Hazard Communication and EPCRA Tier II for small employers. It does not include enterprise industrial-hygiene exposure monitoring, chemical-approval workflows, or international regulatory systems such as REACH, TSCA, or California Prop 65 — those belong to large, costly enterprise EHS suites. SDSentry keeps the small-employer HazCom essentials simple and affordable instead.
Cost and users
How much does SDSentry cost?
It is $24.99 per active location per month, billed per site, with unlimited users at every location and no per-seat fees. There is a 14-day free trial and no credit card is required to start.
Can all my employees access safety data sheets without per-seat charges?
Yes. Every location includes unlimited user accounts with admin and staff roles. For frontline staff you can also turn on a read-only Shared SDS Binder for a location: it produces a link and a printable QR code that any employee can open to browse and view that site's safety data sheets with no login at all — ideal for a posted notice or a shared shop tablet, and exactly what OSHA means by sheets being readily accessible during a shift. You can regenerate or switch off that link anytime. A phone can also be paired by QR code to scan a product barcode and pull its sheet, with no app to install.
Your data and your SDSs
Can I export my data, and is it portable?
Yes, and there is no lock-in. You can download a full JSON copy of your account, plus CSV or PDF exports of your chemical inventory, audit log, training records, OSHA 300 logs, and EPCRA Tier II inventory. There is also a one-click ZIP that bundles the actual SDS PDFs — uploaded sheets plus a best-effort download of your linked sheets — with a manifest listing every product and its source. Your records and your sheets are yours to take with you at any time.
How good is the automatic SDS lookup?
In our own benchmark of two dozen common janitorial and facility products — bleach, Pine-Sol, Windex, WD-40, degreasers, sanitizers and the like — roughly 96% resolved automatically to a live, verified SDS PDF, with the rest still returning hazard data to work from. Results vary by how common and well-documented a product is; obscure or private-label items are likelier to need a manufacturer link or an uploaded PDF, which the product makes easy. We re-run this benchmark as the lookup evolves rather than quoting a number we can't back up.
Can I import my existing SDS library?
Yes. A bulk add lets you paste up to 100 products at once — one per line, with an optional manufacturer — and every row is created immediately while SDSentry finds the current safety data sheet for each one in the background. You can also upload your own SDS PDFs with no limit, or build inventory by searching or scanning product barcodes. Between bulk add and your own PDFs, a large existing library comes in quickly.
How does SDSentry keep safety data sheets current?
When you add a product, SDSentry's multi-source lookup pulls the current published safety data sheet for it. Once a month SDSentry automatically re-checks every sheet you have on file and compares it to the version it last saw; if a manufacturer has changed the sheet, that product is flagged in your inventory and called out in your weekly compliance digest. It also flags any sheet that has not been reviewed in over a year. A one-click re-check pulls the current published SDS and marks it reviewed, or you can upload a newer PDF yourself. You always control the version of record: SDSentry surfaces sheets for review rather than silently replacing them.
Training and OSHA recordkeeping
Does SDSentry handle employee HazCom training and records?
Yes. For every product, SDSentry generates a printable, narrated training guide built on OSHA's training elements (29 CFR 1910.1200(h)) — the hazards, required PPE, first aid, spill response, and incompatibilities — followed by a short quiz and an ESIGN-Act electronic signature. It stores dated training records, prints a certificate for each employee's file, and an admin training-compliance dashboard shows, per product, who is trained, pending a signature, or overdue.
Does SDSentry cover OSHA injury recordkeeping and the written HazCom program?
Yes. It logs recordable injuries and illnesses and generates the OSHA Form 300 log, the 300A annual summary, and the 301 incident report, plus the written Hazard Communication program required by 29 CFR 1910.1200(e), assembled from your inventory and locations. A separate chemical incident log captures spills and exposures.
Labels, posters, and safety checks
Can SDSentry print GHS secondary-container labels and workplace posters?
Yes. From your live inventory it prints GHS secondary-container labels (Avery 5163) with pictograms, signal word, and hazard statements, plus ready-to-post workplace posters — a dangerous-mixing chart, a PPE quick reference, a GHS pictogram key, emergency numbers, and a bloodborne-spill cleanup sheet.
Does SDSentry flag dangerous chemical combinations?
Yes. A hazard dashboard rolls up your inventory by hazard class and flags items that are missing a sheet or over a stored-quantity threshold, and a mixing check cross-references every pair of products against known dangerous combinations, such as bleach with ammonia or with acids. It is a helpful guard, not a substitute for reading Sections 7 and 10 of each SDS.
Can I search inside my safety data sheets?
Yes. Full-text SDS search lets you search the text of every stored sheet by ingredient or by hazard (H-) code, to surface every affected product across all of your locations — not just by product name.
Devices, access, and outages
Do I need to install an app, and does it work on phones?
No download is required. SDSentry runs in any web browser on a phone, tablet, or computer, and it installs to your home screen as a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it opens like an app and runs offline once you have saved your sheets. It loads quickly even on weak job-site connections.
Does SDSentry have a native iPhone or Android app?
Not a separate app-store download, and that is deliberate. SDSentry installs as a Progressive Web App (PWA): you add it to your home screen, it opens full-screen like an app, and it works offline once your sheets are saved — so there is one always-current web app to use instead of separate iOS and Android versions to download and update.
What happens during an internet outage?
You can save your SDS library for offline viewing: in the inventory, choose “Save SDSs for offline,” and any sheet you have saved or already opened stays viewable on that device without a connection. Looking up brand-new products still needs a connection, so for full resilience you can also export or print your library and labels. This mirrors how OSHA treats electronic SDS access, which is acceptable as long as a reliable backup is available for emergencies.
Accounts, sign-in, and help
How do people sign in — is single sign-on supported?
Each user signs in with an email and password, or with optional one-click Google single sign-on if your company enables it. Accounts carry owner, admin, or staff roles scoped per location, and every login and change is recorded in an exportable audit log.
Can SDSentry manage multiple locations and vendors?
Yes. Each location keeps its own chemical inventory, records, and SDS library, and you switch between locations in one click while the company owner sees them all. You can also keep a per-location vendor directory of suppliers and account numbers tied to the products you buy from each.
Is there in-app help?
Yes. An in-app assistant called Ask SDSentry answers HazCom, SDS, and how-to questions inside the app, grounded in OSHA requirements and the product's own guides. You can also email customer.service@0xpi.com.
